Alvina Kumpf, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 20, 2018. She was born in Buffalo on January 31, 1934 to the late Karl and Pauline (Gliem) Klenert.
Alvina was a 1952 graduate of Amherst High School. She married Carl Kumpf on October 2, 1954 and they were blessed with four children. Alvina was a proud and devoted housewife who enjoyed sewing and gardening. She especially loved traveling and fishing with her late husband. She was a former Cub and Girl scout leader as well as a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Alvina will most be remembered for her kindness and always taking care of others. She was recognized with the Frank A. Sedita Good Neighbor Award in 1985.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (Richard) Greiner, Lynn Kumpf, Carl (Nancy) Kumpf, Chris (Sue) Kumpf; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. Husband Carl Kumpf and sister, Dianne Cook predecease her.
Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 26, at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, where a Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. The family would appreciate memorials made in Alvina’s name to: Buffalo Hospice and Hearts and Hands.
