Adrienne Printup, of the Tonawanda Indian Reservation went peacefully on June 3, 2018. She was born in Batavia on October 20, 1953 to the late Uriah and Elaine (Moses) Printup.
Adrienne was a 1971 graduate of Akron Central High School and went on to earn a degree in Early Childhood Development at Genesee Community College. She was a member of the Turtle Clan, the Native American Education Committee, and a part time teacher's aide at Akron Central School for many years. "A" was a very social person, she loved pets and people but was especially fond of children. Her affection evident in how she cared for children in her home, where she started the only formal childcare home embraced by the Tonawanda Indian Community. She was naturally and unwittingly responsible for instilling positive values and building character in the children she cared for. "A" was kind, considerate, compassionate, unimposing, honest, trusting, caring, and inspiring; a shining reflection of her faith.
A sister, Annajean (Lance) Blackchief, many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews survive her. Besides her parents, a sister, Sharon Brayley predeceases Adrienne.
Friends and relatives may call anytime on Wednesday, June 6, until the time of service on Thursday. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Tonawanda Indian Baptist Church, 585 Bloomingdale Road, Basom.
