Frederick M. Weinreber, Jr. passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024. Fred was a man of courage and bravery, known for his notable service in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit with the Air National Guard and the Underwater Recovery Unit for the Buffalo Police Department. His courage in the face of danger was surpassed only by his genuine love for his friends, family, and his beloved fur baby, Ruby.
Fred honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and the Air National Guard. He dedicated his life to serving his community working as a Police Officer for the City of Buffalo Police Department ensuring the safety of those around him. His actions showed his unwavering dedication to public service and his immense bravery, making him a role model for many. He was also a member of the Akron Newstead Senior Center.
Beloved husband of Freda (Wicks) Weinreber for over 30 years; dear brother-in-law of Sharon (late Hans) Zarnoch, Edward (Kathy) Wicks, Judy (Paul) Sorrentino, and Lois Wicks. Fred is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law John Wicks. His legacy shall live on through the countless lives he touched and the community he loved so much. His endearing love for his fur baby, Ruby, is a testament to his kind heart and gentle soul.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC. Service on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 10:00 AM at Ross Funeral Home. Interment at Clarence Fillmore Cemetery with a Brunch immediately following at Cozy Catering located at 10250 Main Street, Clarence.
