Laverne E. "Butch" Wickham, a dedicated and thoughtful man, passed away on March 25th, 2024. Born in Batavia, NY, on May 28th, 1942, to Earl and Catherine (Pursel) Wickham.
Known for his thoughtful nature, Butch always put others first. He was a committed truck driver for many years and retired from Perry's Ice cream, where he was admired for his dedication and work ethic. Butch was more than just a hard worker; he was a man who took the time to appreciate the simple joys in life. He had a passion for antique cars and enjoyed showcasing his 1972 Cadillac Sedan Deville and 2005 Ford Mustang at local car shows. A handyman at heart, Butch found joy in working with his hands.
He was an integral part of the Akron Fire Company for over 25 years where he served as the Chief of the Fire Police for a period of time. His dedication to this role was testament to his commitment to his community and his desire to contribute positively to the lives of others.
Loving father of Sheri (Mike) Boncaldo, Doug (Barbara) Wickham; cherished grandfather of Jason, Brynn, Drake, and Dane; proud great-grandfather of Madelyn and Juliet. Butch was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Donna Wickham and his daughter, Dawn Wickham.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 with a Visitation to follow from 6:30 to to 9:00 PM at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron, NY 14001.
