Vernon was a truly rare warm hearted person. When I first met him in 1958 , my first year at Lancaster as a transfer student, i physically ran into him in the hallway. He said hello are you new here and offered to show me around if I wanted. Later I met him again while coaching baseball in Alden and he still remembered my name from tha first encounter. He will truly be missed on this earth and always remembered by many. God Speed to you Vernon Gay
