Nancy Smith

Nancy Smith passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Buffalo General Hospital on November 29, 2016. Nancy was born in Batavia, NY on February 22, 1943 and was the loving daughter of the late  Anna Bistoff Gudrich (John) and Alan Comstock.

Nancy married Gerald (Jake) Smith in August of 1961. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Buffalo State University while raising her family and then went on to work for Wilson Greatbatch as a Quality Engineer. Nancy was a member of the Akron Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Akron Alumni Association, and the American Society for Quality Control. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed cruises and traveling to their second home in Florida.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald (Jake) Smith of Akron; her children, Donald (Rebecca) Smith of Akron, Ronald (Sheila Biles) Smith of Cheektowaga and Thomas (Stacy) Smith of Philadelphia, PA;  a sister, Jane (Vincent Jones) Comstock; a sister-in-law, Sandie Comstock; and grandchildren, Paige, Raegan, Kelsey, Cole, and Jacob Smith. A son, Russell Alan (Rusty) Smith and a brother, A. Brian Comstock predecease her.

Friends and relatives may call from 1:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
