Irene Kuraszkiewicz, 99, of Akron passed away peacefully at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home, on September 21, 2016. She was born April 30, 1917 in Buffalo to the late Joseph and Martha (Graczyk) Wachowiak.
 
Irene married her late husband, Joseph in Buffalo in 1939. She worked as a sales clerk for Hen’s & Kelly’s for twenty-five years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Millgrove Fire Department for over 50 years. Irene enjoyed bingo and playing cards and cherished the time spent with her family.
 
She is survived by a son, Daniel Kirk of Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Diane (David) Phillips of North Carolina and Lorraine (Louis) Post of Akron; a daughter-in law, Cathie Kirk of Phoenix; eight grandchildren, Cheryl (Eric) Burson, Deborah Kurth, Lisa (David) Hock, Christopher Phillips, Shawn (Amanda) Phillips, Louis (Justine) Post, Lindsey Post, and Lauren Post. Also survived by eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her son, Leonard Kirk; sister, Florence Nowak and brother, Edward Wachowiak predeceased Irene.
 
Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Corfu on Saturday, at 10 am. (Please assemble at church).  Burial will follow at St Adalbert Cemetery in Lancaster.
