Eva M. Bassanello

December 28, 1927 ~ June 4, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Eva M. Bassanello passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Millard Fillmore Hospital. She was born in Akron, NY on December 28, 1927 to the late Giovanni and Alice Chiavacci.

Eva was a 1946 graduate of Akron Central Schools and was married for 65 years to the late Albert J. Bassanello.  Surviving is a daughter, Susan (Michael) Houlihan; two sons, Thomas (Diane) Bassanello and David (Judy) Bassanello. She was a grandmother of Joanne (Christopher) Probst, John (Mary) Asmus, Katherine Bassanello (Peter Capucilli) and John Bassanello. She was a great grandmother of Andrew, Sarah, Josh, Owen, Isabella, Olivia, and Dakota. She was the sister of the late Anso (Nola) Chiavacci. Also surviving Eva are many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Eva was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was especially famous for her pies. She was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Church in Williamsville, NY and Saint Teresa of Avila Parish in Akron, NY for many years. She was a lifelong member of the Newstead Historical Society. She lived with her daughter Susan in Clarence Center, NY for the last ten years.

Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Saint Teresa of Avila Parish, 5779 Buell Street, Akron, NY on Saturday, June 10 at  11:00 AM. ( Please assemble at Church). No prior visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen WNY, 742 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209, komenwny.org for breast cancer research and community programs.
