Charles Barone

Charles Barone 85, of Akron passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 28, 2016. He was born May 4, 1931 in Batavia to the late Stanley and Mary (Dorsey) Barone.

Charles served in the New York National Guard and then married his wife of over fifty years, the late Shirley (Welker) Barone. He owned and operated a service station in Pembroke and especially enjoyed the time he spent there and the relationships he made with his customers over the years. Charles was a past commander of the American Legion post in Clarence Center. He enjoyed ice skating, dancing, playing poker, and euchre. In the winter months, he loved to travel to the southern states in his motor home. He was a very merry guy and would often be heard singing or whistling a tune.

Beloved father of Ron (Terri) Barone of Akron, Don (Jenny) Barone of Corfu and Kathy (Dan Eddy) Barone. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Joe, Daniel, Danielle, Alicia, Dillon, Jacob, and Ron Jr.; seventeen great-grandchildren and long time companion of twelve years, Lois Spaulding of Batavia. Besides his wife, Shirley (Welker) Barone, a son, Stanley Barone, a brother, Frank Barone and a sister, Lucy Stellar predecease Charles.

Friends and relatives may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday January 2, 2017 at Ross Funeral Home of Akron, LLC, 10 Eckerson Avenue, Akron where a Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 3, at 11 a.m.
